A Rococo polished brass and steel fireplace fire basket by Thomas Elsley in the Chippendale manner.  A well-made 19th century version of an earlier Chippendale design.  The shaped polished steel fire bars are flanked by brass standards with brass scrolls and foliage forming the fret and segmented urn finials uppermost.  No. 632  registration mark to rear. Restored.
