Thomas Jeckyll Aesthetic Movement Register Grate with Blossom Detail

Thomas Jeckyll Aesthetic Movement register grate with blossom and guillotine. A black-iron register stove front grate with three fire bars designed by Thomas Jeckyll and manufactured by the foundry of Barnard, Bishop and Barnards. The surround with Japanese inspired asymmetric blossom and foliage design against a background of fretwork with reeded frame. These stove grates represent the very highest quality in fine casting. The asymmetric floral design is typical of Jeckyll and gives a hand-built character to this early mass production technique. One of a pair Restored.

Circa 1884
