Regency Brass & Wrought-Iron Fire Grate with Mythical Birds & Snakes
A fine Regency brass & wrought-iron fire grate with mythical birds & snakes. The serpentine front with wrought fire bars over an openwork fret depicting mythical birds with snakes and central urn decoration, supported on tapering legs on plinth. Engraving to wings, legs, and fret. Urn finials uppermost and a shaped fire back to rear. Height of burning area: 12″ Restored. Circa 1811
